Native American Gathering Center

MCA was commissioned by the Pendleton Round-Up Board to develop a schematic design for a new community meeting facility and restroom to serve for rotational use between the Pendleton Round-Up Indian Village, the City of Pendleton Parks Dept., local school sports programs and the neighboring convention center. MCA also assisted with development of presentation materials to help garner support for the project. The 2,860 sf building and 1,430 sf covered area creates a gateway, marking the transition between the Pendleton Round-Up Indian Village and the neighboring city park. Key design objectives were ease of maintenance, flexibility of use, vandal resistance, and relation of function and character to local Native American culture.
